Avec des figures. Utrecht. Guillaume de Walcheren. 1682. Petit in-4 (160 x 204mm) pleine basane brune, dos à 5 nerfs, titre, larges filets et fleurons or, pièce de titre rouge, 4ff., 1 plan remplié, 215, (1) pages (la page 141 est paginée 341 par erreur), bien complet des 14 planches hors texte. Première édition française. Manque d'1 cm à la coiffe supérieure et petits défauts à la reliure de l'époque sinon bel exemplaire. Peu courant.
Célèbre anatomiste hollandais, on trouve dans ses ouvrages des faits nouveaux et intéressants, particulièrement en ce qui concerne les insectes. Ses descriptions anatomiques, d'une étonnante précision, ont fait faire de grands progrès à la science, en détruisant un grand nombre d'erreurs accréditées et en apportant des notions aussi neuves qu'exactes. This set includes the initial, unnumbered part, which was privately published by Karl Stamm, with the slightly different title and subject, "Prodromus der Lepidopteren-Fauna der Rheinlande und Westfalens". A continuous run, from the start, such as this one is now rare. After 2007, four more volumes were published. Several volumes in this run are now out of print. Tiny previous owner's stamp on most front covers and top margin of title pages. Otherwise a very good set.
