Tightly bound complete copy.This is the final and best edition of Hofmann's work "Die Grossschmetterlinge Europas", with all the fine coloured lithographed plates, including the important fourth volume of the "Raupen" or caterpillars (with 50 plates), reworked by Arnold Spuler, and its "Nachtrag" (with another 10 plates). These caterpillar parts are often lacking. The various families were treated by several experts, e.g. Geometridae by H. Rebel, and Tortricidae by J. von Kernel.

Many of the taxa illustrated were described by the author. An attractive and unusually fine, clean copy.
