1895 ix, 395 p., 116 text figures, original gilt pictorial cloth. An introductio to the various groups of aquatic insects, including adults and their larvae. Boards a bit worn, spotted throughout. Bookplate on front paste-down. An average copy.
The structure and life-history of the harlequin fly (Chironomus).
1900 viii, 196 p., 129 text figures, frontispiece, original green cloth with gilt title on spine. According to the authors, the abundance, year-round occurence and transparency of this "fly" made it peculiarly fit for study by naturalists. And this is what they did. Armorial bookplate on front paste-down, inscribed on front flyleaf by another former owner. Good copy.

A thorough study on these Acari with fine illustrations. Some antiquarians claim that all plates are coloured, or that there are more than 42 plates but that is quite certainly incorrect. Ex library set with several small stamps, on plate versos and several in text leaf margins. Plate rectos, however, clean, no foxing, and bindings sound.
