‎In augustus 2002 legt de 84-jarige grondwetspecialist Robert Senelle een merkwaardige verklaring af tegenover de Brusselse historicus Paul De Ridder. Het Hoofd van de Afdeling Catalogisering in de Koninklijke Bibliotheek te Brussel heeft er kort voordien voor gezorgd dat de priv -bibliotheek van Prof. Senelle opgenomen wordt in die Federale Wetenschappelijke Instelling. De Brusselaar Senelle is bijzonder tevreden dat zijn boeken bewaard zullen blijven. Hij vertrouwt zijn stadsgenoot De Ridder een geheim toe. Het sinds 1934 verdwenen paneel van ?De Rechtvaardige Rechters?, deel van het altaarstuk van het Lam Gods bestaat nog steeds en bevindt zich in een uitstekende staat. Sterker nog! Senelle voert al jarenlang discrete gesprekken met een familie om dit topwerk terug te laten keren bij de andere panelen van het retabel van Jan Van Eyck. Senelle en De Ridder werken jarenlang (2009-2013) intens samen om het netelige dossier van de ?Rechtvaardige Rechters? zonder schandaal in orde te brengen. In oktober 2009 brengt De Ridder de Gentse bisschop op de hoogte. Mgr. Luc Van Looy, is bereid het paneel te aanvaarden zonder vragen te stellen. Toch raakt de zaak niet opgelost. Op 13 febr. 2013 overlijdt Senelle. Door de dood van de grondwetspecialist is De Ridder nu zelf een kroongetuige geworden. Hij legt dan ook op 1 juli 2013 een offici le verklaring af bij de procureur van Gent. Op vraag van het gerecht treedt De Ridder op 28 maart 2014 in de openbaarheid. Tijdens het ?VRT Journaal? en ?Terzake? doen n De Ridder n Luc Van Looy een oproep om de Rechtvaardige Rechters terug te laten keren naar de Gentse Sint-Baafskathedraal. ?Twee Brusselaars ijveren voor de terugkeer van de Rechtvaardige Rechters? (2021) brengt het boeiende relaas van de recente (2002-2020) ontwikkelingen in dit dossier. Net als het eerste boek ?De Rechtvaardige Rechters terug van weggeweest. Niet Ars ne Goedertier maar Nonkel kanunnik? (2020) bevat ook deze publicatie cruciale informatie over deze mysterieuze zaak. Experten laten er geen twijfel over bestaan: de twee boeken van De Ridder bevatten dynamiet. Over de auteur Paul De Ridder ( Ukkel, 1948) promoveerde anno 1977 aan de Gentse Rijksuniversiteit tot Doctor in de Middeleeuwse Geschiedenis. Zijn proefschrift was gewijd aan Jan I (1267-1294) en Jan II (1294-1312), hertogen van Brabant. Tussen 1979-1988 inventariseerde Dr. De Ridder het omvangrijke archief van de Brusselse kapittelkerk van Sint-Michiel en Sint-Goedele. (1047-1797) Bovendien verrichtte hij fundamenteel onderzoek naar het taalgebruik te Brussel v r 1794. Omwille van zijn jarenlange inzet voor het Brusselse cultuurhistorische patrimonium werd Paul De Ridder in 1997 onderscheiden met de ?ANV-Visser-Neerlandiaprijs voor Persoonlijke Verdiensten.? Deze prijs, ingesteld door de Joodse en vrijzinnige Nederlander Herman Lodewijk Visser (+ 1943), beloont personen die zich belangeloos voor de gemeenschap hebben ingezet.‎
