‎La série nombreuse de publications dont la Bastille avait été l'objet depuis 1889 se termina avec cet important ouvrage. L'histoire de la célèbre forteresse dont le rôle, puis la chute, ont été l'objet de nombreuses discussions est bien ce qu'on devait attendre d'un érudit, ancien élève de l'École des chartes, rompu aux travaux historiques ; elle est forte et impartiale. La première partie du volume est consacrée à l'histoire et à la description des bâtiments de la « Bastille-Saint-Antoine » depuis le 22 avril 1370, date où le prévôt Hugues Aubriot en posa la première pierre, jusqu'à la veille de la prise de la forteresse par les Parisiens. Le texte, solidement étayé de pièces d'archives, est illustré par divers plans, reproduits en héliogravure par Duardin. La deuxième partie contient l'histoire de l'administration de la Bastille, budgets et fonctions de la garnison et du personnel depuis le capitaine-gouverneur jusqu'aux humbles porte-clés. On y rencontre (p. 76-95) une liste, accompagnée de notices sommaires, des capitaines-gouverneurs du château depuis le premier en date, Jean La Personne, vicomte d'Acy, jusqu'à Jourdan de Launey, massacré par les Parisiens, le 14 juillet 1789. ‎Fernand Naeyaert (Schoten, 15 februari 1919 - Antwerpen, 10 oktober 1992) was een Belgisch kunstfotograaf. Als nijveraar reisde hij voor zijn werk de hele wereld rond. Naeyaert was een enthousiast fotograaf en begon in 1939 kleurenfoto?s te maken. Daarmee was hij een van de eerste Belgische fotografen die de kleurenfotografie voor artistieke doeleinden gebruikte. Als fotograaf was Naeyaert autodidact. Hij werd sterk be nvloed door de schilderkunst. Zijn oeuvre bestaat uit reeksen met landschappen, stillevens, figuren en portretten. Een belangrijke reeks vormt de oude Kempen, die hij nog ongerept in beeld bracht. Deze reeks werd gepresenteerd met teksten van Anton van Wilderode onder de titel ?Lied van mijn land, de oude Kempen in foto's'. In 1948 bezocht Naeyaert samen met kunstschilder Albert Van Dyck het atelier van James Ensor en maakte unieke kleurenfoto?s van de Oostendse meester. Begin jaren zeventig werkte hij aan een groots opgezet experimenteel audiovisueel project, getiteld ?Het Spookschip?, dit in samenwerking met architect Flor Van Reeth en de kunstschilders Frans Mertens en Ronald De Preter. Pas rond zijn zestigste begon hij zijn werk aan het publiek te tonen. Belangrijke tentoonstellingen hadden plaats in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten te Brussel en in het Jakob Smitsmuseum te Mol. In 1984 werd in Antwerpen een hulde-tentoonstelling aan hem gewijd. Ook internationaal kwam zijn werk onder de aandacht, onder meer met tentoonstellingen in Parijs en Moskou. In 1991 publiceerde Naeyaert memoires onder de titel ?Denkend aan Albert Van Dijck?, waarin tevens herinneringen aan James Ensor opgenomen zijn. Fernand Naeyaert was stichter en voorzitter van de Stichting Albert Van Dyck, thans Museum Albert Van Dyck te Schilde.‎

‎Summary The sixteenth century was a time of great religious turmoil in Europe, during which the critical positions within the Catholic Church led to a definitive break between Christians. One of the major controversies pertained to the cult of the saints, since in 1523 Martin Luther denied the mediating role of the saints and repudiated what he considered excesses in their devotions. The studies presented in this volume examine the impact of the Reformation on hagiography in the Hispanic sphere. They investigate how theological positions and controversy were projected onto literature, and how literature incorporated theological discourse, explicitly or implicitly. Unsurprisingly, the Catholic Church reaffirmed the hagiographical tradition, but to what extent was hagiographical literature, specifically Hispanic literature, affected by reformist approaches? This book explores issues less evident and hitherto neglected: for example, Hispanic Catholic authorities and authors, influenced by the denunciations of the excesses of the cult of saints and hagiographical ?fables,? publicly declared the purging of apocryphal elements in saints' lives; in practice, however, they grappled with the difficulty of applying theoretical criteria to such an enormous subject. As a result, certain contradictions arose between these criteria and the commitment to the hagiographical tradition, which some even sought to expand and update. ‎Summary Starting from a political reality, which is, at the same time, artistic and cultural, the book Ars Hasburgica aims to review the still so common historiographical conception of the Renaissance that conceives this period from a geographically Italocentric, artistically classicist and politically centered the idea of "national" arts and schools. But Renaissance is a more global and complex phenomenon. What this book aims to offer is an idea of the art of that period that considers the role played by the Habsburg dynasty and its various courts in this period, trying to verify whether, by applying other historiographic models, and having the art of the Casa de Austria as a focus, traditional ideas can continue to be maintained well into the twenty-first century.
