First French translation (vol. 1 of 2 only) of Wheler’s famous work on the Levant: ““one of the most important accounts of travels in the Levant, and the first description of Athens which was systematic, detailed and trustworthy"" (Blackmer). ""Wheler was especially interested in botany and topography. The map is very interesting. Wheler's work remained the standard English book on Greece for many years.
