Important and comprehensive monographic exhibition catalog of high (print) quality. According to his own account, Vordemberge-Gildewart created only 220 works of art, 'constructions', as he initially called them, 'compositions', as he later called them. There are also drawings, collages, photomontages, some watercolors and prints that are not included in the artist's count, as well as designs from applied areas such as typography and architectural design. The exhibition and catalog provide an insight into Vordemberge-Gildewart's overall work. The show has become the artist's most comprehensive retrospective to date. The contributions in this catalog, which serve as a retrospective of his work, summarize Vordemberge-Gildewart's oeuvre in three sections that correspond to the artist's places of work: Hanover, Amsterdam and Ulm. All exhibited works are depicted, those recorded by Vordemberge-Gildewart in his workshop book (and labeled with K numbers) in color. Vordemberge-Gildewart's reception history is outlined in the exhibition lists and the list of selected literature about him.
