The first edition appeared in Rome in 1562. This edition has been augmented with a text and illustrations by Michelangelo Buonarotti (plates 35 - 42). Three centuries before the European Union the clever Amsterdam printer Willem Blaeu published this edition in 4 languages to cover the European market.
