Il écrit à son correspondant, le beau-frère (?) de Francis de Croisset, qu'il ne lit plus de manuscrits pour « 820 raisons » et que « Croisset pourrait en indiquer 3 ou 400 » mais il fera une exception car « les beaux frères de nos amis sont nos amis ». Dans le second courrier, il dit avoir lu le manuscrit et en fait une critique.‎
