"10. Paris, chez Dalmont et Dunod, 1858, in-4°, 96 pp (text) + 1 large folding colour lithographic map (c. 590 x 940 mm). Bound in original printed boards, staining on covers and text, with large clear dampstain throughout. The coloured map is in fine condition. Early publication on a scheme to link the Atlantic with the Pacific Ocean. This work is one of the first which seriously studies the feasibility of the concept. The route would have followed the San Juan River to Lake Nicaragua. From there a canal would be constructed to the Pacific. Rare. This item is sold with all faults; and not sugject to return !. Only the map is in good shape. The book is stained throughout.."
