.: 18. Paris, Bance ainé, 1837, folio, iv + 12 pp, frontispiece, 72 engraved pl, 1 insert, quarter calf, gilt and raised back some wear, top and end of spine damaged with loss of leather, some very minor foxing , but still a fine/good copy apart form the binding damage. The authors drew and engraved the plates themselves. Apart from well-known architectural details, the authors show famous ball and billiards rooms, shop fronts, bazars, street and garden furniture, mostly in the '' French Empire'' style, strongly reminiscent of Pompeii. On plate 36 is depicted a sandwich man, this new phenomenon draws a curious comment in the plate-description.
