There exists two different editions with the 1557 imprint; a) with 165 pp (copy in the BN Paris) , b) our copy with 134 pp (identical with the copy in the Brigham Young UL).."
".: S.L. ( Genève ), Excudebat Conradus Badius, 1559., format in-12° ( 12 x 8,2 cm). [1] 458 lvs + 14 lvs (index) (complete) ; [2] 50 lvs + 6 lvs (index) (complete). Both titles with the same woodengraved vignet, this copy entirely ruled with double red ink lines. Bound in 18th c. full calf. Binding with severe traces of use: top end of spine missing (ca. 1 cm), outer joints partly broken (binding still solid), Traces of worming in lower cover,with some loss of leather. Notwithstanding these binding defects still a good copy with a fine interior, solid bookblock, no stains, finely ruled. Title page with two manuscript ex-libris (proabably conteporary, but illegible). First posthumous edition of Sleidanus' important work on the history of the Reformation. In this edition was added a 26th book. The first edition of this work was published in 1555; one year before his death. Manuscript title on smooth spine, manuscript ex-libris in a nice two-coloured calligraphy on the front cover (modern, but in ancient style). Woodcut ex-libris on the first paste-down. Nice copy.
