1899 The Studio - 1899 Serpente legendée - original chromo lithograph print of a young woman laid at rest on her side, robes draped about her body. A late work by Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1838-1898) the Pre-Raphaelite artist also associated with the Aesthetic movement. One of the greats of Victorian art, Burne-Jones was a friend and business partner of William Morris and influenced by Dante Gabriel Rossetti amongst others. This is a fabulous image reflecting the artists great draughtsmanship.Initialed in the plate and carrying the blind stamp of The Studio, magazine of fine and applied art, publishers. Printed on slightly glossy paper with plain back it measures 11" x 7. 3/4". Will ship flat. Condition: Very good
