18. Anvers ( Antwerpen ) Par Iacques Henrycx , ( Jacob Henricsz ), 1579, in-8°, 15,5 cm, (16) nn pp + 258 pp + (22) nn pp . (complete, collation conform USTC nr. 6942 ). Bound in a somewhat later French binding of full calf with raised spine and red leather title label, edges painted red. with marbled paper end leaves and fly leaves. With a small manuscript ex-libris on the title page ( made illegible) , a 19th c. oval rubber stamp ex-libris name on the first fly leaf ( ''H. Galibert '') . With a modern printed ex-lbris on the first paste down (''Roland Chevalier'' - tolerantia). Nice and very well preserved copy. This description and history of the ''Confoederatio Helvetica'' is certainly the most important text published in the 16th c. on this subject. The author Jonas Simler (1535-1576 ) published this text in 1576. The first French edition appeared already one year later ( 1577 ) in a translation by Innocent Gentillet. The book must have raised much interest in the Low Countries in a period when these were struggling with the Habsburg sovereingty. The Belgica Typographica and the USTC list only 4 titles published in Antwerp by the printer or publisher Jacob Henricsz. This title appeared twice (in 1580 - a second edition). It remains a matter of investigation by whom this title was printed..
