‎Revolution in Glassmaking. Entrepeneurship Technological Change in American Industry 1880-1920.‎

‎Cambridge (MA) Harvard University Press 1948 ‎

‎First edition. A hardback in its original red cloth with gilt-stamped title to spine. Original red and white dust jacket. Includes frontis portrait of Edward Drummond Libbey plus several b/w plates and in text b/w illustrations and photographs. The dust jacket has some small areas of loss, and is very faded to spine - but the book itself is in a very good state. Now protected in clear Mylar wrap to help preserve the dust jacket. xvii + 398 pages. 245 x 160 mm (9Ÿ x 6Œ inches). This work encompasses not only the fine details of technology (directly responsible for the development of glassmaking, particularly from 1880 on), but goes into the metamorphosis of labour relationship, labour costs, factory management, output, price, and even into earnings and dividends paid. The leading part a handful of men in Toledo (Ohio) seem to have played in upscaling production is part of America's industrial history.‎
