Deze Ierse fotograaf (1965) maakte begin jaren 1990 naam en faam met reeksen als ?Orange Order?, ?Police Force? en ?Secterian Murder?. Documentair werk, waarin de conflicten van Noord-Ierland centraal staan. Toch zien we hier niet de brutale misdaad, maar de indirecte, suggestieve sporen van geweld. Een aanpak die Seawright ook in zijn latere werk omtrent Afghanistan en Afrika hanteert en hem tot een van de meest relevante fotografen van zijn generatie maakt, niet in het minst omwille van zijn genuanceerd standpunt over de actuele betekenis van de documentaire fotografie. /// This Irish photographer (1965) made a name for himself in the early 1990s with series such as 'Orange Order', 'Police Force' and 'Secterian Murder'. Documentary work, focusing on the conflicts of Northern Ireland. Yet here we do not see the brutal crime, but the indirect, suggestive traces of violence. An approach that Seawright also uses in his later work on Afghanistan and Africa and makes him one of the most relevant photographers of his generation, not least because of his nuanced point of view on the current significance of documentary photography.
