" Paris, no printer, 1743, in-8°, xxiii pp + 337 pp + (6)nn pp (index) + (1)(bl), complete. Bound in contemporary full calf, raised gilt spine. Edges painted red. Marbled endpapers. Fine copy, with the printed ex-libris tipped on to the first paste down of ''Hablot'' notaire à Carignon. Louis Riccoboni ( Modena 1676 - Paris 1753) was an Italian commedia dell'arte actor who was invited to Paris in 1716 to revive the ''Comédie Italienne''. In this study and critique on 18th c. theater he does not spare his critique. Tragedies and comedies are neatly divided in three categories: those to keep, (conserver) ; those to better ( corriger) and finally those to discard ( rejetter). Very fine copy."
