Between 1496 and 1714, Spain and Flanders were linked by dynastic ties. In the relations between these two worlds, a small group of intermediaries or agents played a relatively important role. Among its functions was to direct, strengthen, weaken, or in any other way, influence the interaction between Spain and the Netherlands. They were merchants, travelers, soldiers, clergymen, statesmen, diplomats, scientists?, each individual who represented in a certain way the relationship that existed between those geographical spaces.
