‎Engraving of St Radegunda [Radegund] from Heiliges Benedictiner-Jahr‎

‎Augspurg, Walder 1710 Une jolie gravure sur cuivre de Sainte Radegonde, tirée de l'ouvrage de Ranbeck intitulé "Les saints bénédictins tout au long de l'année". Cette image a été gravée par Kihan d'après J. Umbach. Sous l'image, un petit texte en latin vante ses vertus. L'image est propre et nette, avec quelques rousseurs et une petite usure du bord seulement. Surface imprimée 12,5cm x 9cm, feuille 20cm x 14,5cm. Exemplaire original. Sainte Radegonde (520-587), princesse de Thuringe et reine franque, a fondé l'abbaye de la Sainte-Croix à Poitiers. Elle est la patronne de plusieurs églises en France et en Angleterre et du Jesus College de Cambridge, dont le nom complet est 'The College of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John the Evangelist and the glorious Virgin Saint Radegund'. Elle était étroitement associée à Grégoire de Tours et à Venantius Fortunatus.‎


‎An attractive copper engraving of St Radegund, taken from Ranbeck's "Benedictine Saints throughout the year". This image was engraved by Kihan after J. Umbach. With small text in Latin below the image extolling her virtues. Image is clean and tidy, with some foxing and small edge-wear to the border only. Impressed area 125 x 90mm, sheet is 200 x 145 mm. Original copy. St Radegund (520-587). was a Thuringian princess and Frankish queen, who founded the Abbey of the Holy Cross at Poitiers. She is the patroness saint of several churches in France and England and of Jesus College, Cambridge, whose full name is 'The College of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John the Evangelist and the glorious Virgin Saint Radegund'. She was closely associated with Gregory of Tours and Venantius Fortunatus. .‎
