"2. Anvers, 20th june 1782, manuscript on paper, written in ink, in-4°, 4 pp ( last 3 pp blank) , written in French, very neat handwriting. Signed by J.C.J. Borrekens and Domin Nagels. This letter authorizes Charles Proli to buy two ships which will sail for the newly formed 'Société Impériale Asiatique de Trieste à Anvers' .; the ''Comte de Belgiojoso'' now in Liverpool; and the '' Comte de Zinzendorff '' now in London. Provenance; from the archives of Charles de Proli ; photostat of a typed letter from 23 May 1945 refers to Theophile Smekens who was still occupied with Proli's bancruptcy in the late 19th c. ( see Denucé, Antwerps Archievenblad 2e reeks, 7 , 1932 nr.1). On this history of Proli's business initiatives see at length '' Charles Proli , Antwerps zakenman en bankier 1723 - 1786.'' Study by H. Houtman-De Smedt - published by the Brussels' Academy in 1983. On page 151, note 131 these ships are mentionned. The Comte de Belgiojoso left Liverpool march 4th 1783 and went under in the Irish Sea with the loss of 149 of the crew.
