(1867), in-8°, 23,5 x 15,5 cm, xxxi pp + x pp + (3)nn pp + 289 pp + (2)nn pp (errata) + 11 photolithographs '' procédé Asser & Toovey '', and a woodcut titlepage, bound in contemporary half brown leather, raised spine with gilt lettering and decoration, marbled boards and endpapers. Binding with slight wear but fine copy with a stainless interior. Text in French. The book, on Flemish art and painting ,contains a 31 pp preface on the subject. The text is a collection of poems inspired by paintings which are reproduced here as photolithographs. The reproduction process was invented by Edouard Asser . In 1859 it was published in the '' Bulletin française de la Photographie''. In 1860 2 belgian lithographers Gustave Simoneau and William Toovey acquired a licence to use the process for their prints in Belgium.
