According to Cicognara (note at item 2792) this album was published in Rome in 1669 with an allegorical frontispiece and some annotations by the compiler's brother Antonio (this frontispiece and the annotations are lacking here). This original edition comprised 114 plates ( as our album). The original project of Giovanni Canini comprised only 60 portraits, 54 were added by his brother."
