The plates are printed on one side only and some are in chromolithography and heightened with gold. Publisher's decorated gilt cloth, binding with some minor wear at extremeties , small tears in cloth at the joints, ex-library stamp on first fly-leaf, a handwritten number on title page but still a fine copy. Lavishly produced type specimen catalogue with some of the larger types rendered in colour lithography to show the legibility of contrasting colours and backgrounds. Many plates also show mediaeval manuscript initials with their original colouring.
