" Romae ( Roma ) 1645, Paris chez la veufue du deffunct Monsr. Perier, rue des fossez, Ste Germain vis à vis l'hostel de Sourdy, ( s.d. , after 1656). Oblong in-folio, 322 x 550 mm, complete collection of 55 engravings ; title page ( unnumbered engr.) + 51 leaves with engravings , numbered 1-50, one plate between 21 and 22 unnumbered, leaves 48, 49, 50 contain each two engravings . Bound in contemporary full vellum, vellum soiled and wrinkled and with some marginal tears in the upper margin of the front cover. The engravings are printed on strong paper. Some of the leaves have marginal old waterstains (never in the plate), most leaves are marginally dustsoiled and or thumbed. All the engravings have large margins. The printed field of the plates is practically everywhere fine and stainless which makes this, notwithstanding the rather used binding, still a good/fine copy. The artist François Perrier (1584 - 1656) was born in Burgundy . He worked in Lyons and travelled to Rome where worked with Lanfranco. Back in France he was assigned by Simon Vouet the decoration of the chapel at the ''chateau de Chilly''.."
