Two prints are double page size (which makes a total of 12 pictures). Bound in full red cloth, the original large gilt title of the front cover has been integrated in the renewed binding. Interior with some minor foxing spots, the photographs are fine. With manuscript captions underneath. Early example of the use of photography as art documentation. The subject : a sculptural relief in the Chapel of the Rosary of the Church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo in Venice, was damaged by fire in August 1867. The photographer Antonio Perino received already in 1853 the official permission of the Venetian government to practice the art of photography. In 1862 he was awarded a prize in London for his photograph album of the famous Grimani Breviary (110 albumen prints).
