CoBrA, een acroniem voor Copenhague, Bruxelles en Amsterdam, werd de naam van hun beweging. Tegenwoordig wordt Cobra beschouwd als een belangrijk momentum in de kunstgeschiedenis, ook internationaal. Met het Frans als voertaal was Cobra zo goed als de laatste authentieke Europese beweging binnen het modernisme. Daarna nam, in het kielzog van de economie, de cultuurhegemonie van de Verenigde Staten het over. ‎Fred Bervoets (1942) is een legende in de Belgische kunstwereld en wordt op handen gedragen door de jonge generatie kunstenaars. Al jarenlang maakt hij zowel muurvullende, drukbevolkte werken als zeer ambachtelijke prenten, waarvoor hij een eigen techniek ontwikkelde.
