Marbled end papers. Edges painted red. Fine set, with minimal traces of use. With a small oval 19th c. library stamp of a Jesuit college on the title page. And with a smaller then a postage stamp printed library label ( private 18th c. library of a jesuit) tipped on to the first paste down. The jesuit author, also famous as a writer, theater author and composer was called to Rome in 1731 to work on this publication on the history of the Jesuits saints and martyrs. He teached mathematics for 30 years at the jesuit college in Firenze."
