4. London, printed by William Redmayne for the author, in the Old Palace Westminster, 1703, infolio, (16)nn pp + 51 pp (pp.1 blank) + (1)(blank) , title with woodengraved vignette, 3 engraved intitials and 7 engraved vignettes. Sewn, bound in a contemporary blind blue wrapper . Margins and title a bit dustsoiled, beginning of dogearing at the first pages, nevertheless still a good and acceptable copy. Rare imprint but our copy lacks the double page engraving which represents the painting by Lebrun. This engraving has been replaced by a previous owner with a tipped on smaller line-engraving which depicts the painting (engraving by C. Normand). Still an interesting and rare publication which may have inspired Handel's Alessandro.
