Hanover, Forster, 1731. 4to. In contemporary full calf with four raised bands with richly gilt spine. Leather on spine and boards with a few scratches. Small paper-label pasted on to top of spine. Internally very nice and clean. (38), 1036, (64) pp. + frontispiece.
Exceedingly rare first and only edition of Oesterreich’s work on the Christian duty to place trust in God, emphasizing faith as a fundamental aspect of a believer’s life. Not much is known about Anton August Oesterreich (1692-1745) other than he functioned as Pastor in Riddagshausen. We have not been able to trace a single copy in the trade and only two copies on OCLC (Ostfriesische Bibliothek and Herzog August Bibliothek)
