" Northhampton , Members of the Victoria Road Church & Congregation, July 1906, in-folio album, 37 x 32 cm, contains 6 calligraphed leaves with the first 3 leaves elaborately ornated with initials and borders, (leaves only written on recto side and each mounted in a thick passe-partout (4 mm thick). The album was presented to Watson on the occasion of his 25 years of service at the church. The last three leaves bear the names of the members of the congregation. BINDING ; Bound in full blue morocco, front cover with an elaborate floral border and extra floral ornaments on the inside at the corners, paste downs within a leather gilt frame match the fly leaves and consist of flowers upon a curved line background, all printed in gilt. All edges gilt. Kept in blue cloth box. Binding signed on the inside '' Birdsall Northampton''. Finely preserved binding notwithstanding some unobtrusive damage by flaking of two gilt corner ornaments. The illuminations and calligraphy attest to a very high craftmanship. This attractive book is a fine specimen of a late Victorian gift book and it would be difficult in the 21st century to find the craftsmen who could replicate such an object.."
