‎Première et unique édition du catalogue raisonné des manuscrits en langues orientales de la célèbre collection de manuscrits de la Bibliothèque impériale de Vienne. Louvrage est richement illustré de 117 planches gravées sur cuivre dont 48 reproduisent les célèbres enluminures du manuscrit syriaque du VIe siècle le "Vienna Genesis" (Cod. Theol. gr. 31) ainsi quune double planche représentant le codex manuscrit mexicain "Yuta Tnoho". La plupart des illustrations sont loeuvre de Nikolaus van Hoy, gravées par Franciscus Van der Steen. Ainsi que Nikolaus Hautt et Mathias van Somer pour le portrait de Léopold Ier et Johann Sigmund Schott pour les armoiries.Le volume décrit 1160 manuscrits orientaux répartis en différentes classes : I- Théologie. II- Droit. III- Médecine. IV- Philosophie. V- Histoire ecclésiastique et profane. VI- Index. VII- Langues orientales. LAppendix inclut des suppléments détaillant notamment des collections dantiques comportant des inscriptions en grec ou en latin.Cet ouvrage sinscrit dans la continuité du travail de Peter Lambeck, bibliothécaire de 1663 à 1680, auteur du premier catalogue imprimé des "Vindobonenses", dans lequel 621 manuscrits grecs étaient déjà répertoriés.(Brunet, III, 787. Part II Codices Juridicos Graecos: (2)nn pp (Title with vignet ; blank) pp 3-35 ; (1)nn pp. (complete) Part III Codices Medicos Graecos. (2)nn pp (Title with vignet ; blank) 3-56 pp + 11 plates (some folding) (complete). Bound in later half vellum, boards covered with marbled paper. Uncut copy with old paper restorations at some pages (missing margins added, never with loss of text). With some stains and tears at several pages, Paper quality of the first 50 pp rather fluffy (previously washed ?). Leaf 5/6 of first part mounted and seriously stained (not interfering with legability).. Thie book is incomplete and not in good condition. We preserved it and offer it for sale here because it is an interesting and rare evidence of the strong humanistic tradition in 17th c. Vienna. The catalogue describes elaborately; with illustrations; the Greek and Oriental manuscripts in the Imperial library in Vienna. Our copy contains the three parts as mentioned above; the missing Greek parts deal with Philogy and History. Provenance: with 19th c. rubberstamp of a Belgian religious institute."‎
