Début du 20e siècle, vers 1930, d'après le style et les vêtements nettement Art déco. Une jeune femme tient son chapeau contre le vent, tandis que sa jupe (coupée à la "longueur italienne") ondule. Elle tient son parapluie fermement enroulé contre le vent. Jolie mise en couleur. Filigrane sur le papier. Un peu d'usure dans les grandes marges. Gravure 350 mm x 195 mm. Dimensions totales : 460 mm x 300 mm.‎

‎A lovely copy of this German aquatint etching, signed (but indecipherable). With title "Ein Windstross." Early 20th Century, circa 1930 from the distinctly Art Deco styling and clothing. A young woman holds her hat against the wind, whilst her skirt (cut to the "Italian Length") billows. She holds her umbrella tightly furled against the wind. Nice colouring. Watermark to paper. A touch of edge wear to the large margins. Engraving 350 mm x 195 mm. Size in total: 460 mm x 300 mm. .‎

‎Collijn 292. Amund Grefwe (ca. 1610-1677), was the first printer in Göteborg. He studied Latin at the University of Uppsala and was the author of a few minor works. He began his printing career in Uppsala working for Professor Wallius's private press and later for Laurentius Paulinus Gothus. Grefwe moved to Stockholm, where he worked for the royal translator Ericus Schroderus and when he moved back to his place of birth in Nyköping Grefwe goes with him. In 1646 he was offered a job in Göteborg. When he had finished the work on ""Carionis Chronika"" he moved to Göteborg in 1650. He was not satisfied with the promised conditions and complained to the Governor of Västergötland. In 1653 he was given priviliges by Queen Kristina, which allowed him to publish and sell his own works and also scholarly books. In 1650 he published the first book printed in Göteborg: "" Christelige Gåfwors Apoteek.""‎

‎Hand Blocked Colored Prints of the Gay 90's ‎

‎France S.P. C1890 Un ensemble attrayant de ces rares serviettes de cocktail. Offertes ici en tant qu'échantillons, vraisemblablement pour la vente. Dans une boîte ressemblant à un faux livre, avec des coins en tissu et des tranches dorées. Le texte "Gay 90's / Pure Linen / Vol. 1" figure au dos. Il semblerait, d'après l'orthographe, que ces ouvrages soient destinés au marché américain. Sur le bord inférieur se trouve une étiquette donnant quelques détails sur les serviettes. Le couvercle supérieur de la boîte est légèrement bombé, mais il est en très bon état. La page de contenu est en fait une liste des caractéristiques des serviettes. La deuxième page donne la liste des huit illustrations. Curieusement, il s'agit de deux séries identiques de quatre serviettes (dont la couleur et le dessin sont identiques). Les serviettes elles-mêmes sont en excellent état, chacune étant légèrement cousue sur une feuille de papier. Les 16 feuilles ont été agrafées dans le coffret du livre. L'agrafe a traversé le papier, de sorte que chaque feuille est maintenant détachée. Une pièce attrayante et curieuse.‎

‎An attractive set of these scarce cocktail napkins. Offered here as samples presumably for sale. In a box appearing as a faux book, complete with cloth corners and gilt edges. To the spine is the text "Gay 90's / Pure Linen / Vol. 1." It would appear from the spelling that these are intended for the American market. To the bottom edge is a label, giving some details about the napkins. The top cover of the box is slightly bowed, otherwise in very good condition. The contents page, is actually a list of the attributes of the napkins. The second page, gives a list of the eight illustrations. Curiously, these are two identical sets of four napkins (and they are the same in colour and design). The napkins themselves are in excellent condition, each lightly sewn onto a backing sheet of paper. The 16 sheets were stapled into the book box. The staple has pulled through the paper, so each gather is now detached. An attractive and curious piece. 200 by 155mm (7Ÿ by 6 inches). .‎

‎France S.P. C1830 Trois jolies tabatières en papier maché. Françaises, vers 1830. Chacune présente une gravure sous vernis sur le couvercle. L'une est colorée, les deux autres ne le sont pas. Les boîtes ont des bords peints autour de l'image. Les images sont un peu assombries et les bords sont un peu éraflés, mais les boîtes sont encore très présentables. Les trois images sont les suivantes : 1) "Devinequi ?" "Devinez qui". Deux jeunes hommes dans une scène arcadienne. L'un d'eux est derrière et couvre les yeux de son ami. Image colorée Semble être une aquarelle sous vernis. 8,5 cm de diamètre, 1,5 cm de profondeur. Sain mais avec un léger dommage à la base. 2) "La Veillée" Un groupe de cinq personnes dans une chaumière, attendant avec impatience, mais on ne sait pas pourquoi. Gravure sur bois sous vernis. 9 cm de diamètre. Profondeur de 2 cm. Sain mais avec un léger dommage à la base. 3) "La tendresse Maternelle" "La tendresse d'une mère". Semble représenter une mère essayant de sauver un enfant de la noyade. Gravure sur bois sous vernis. 8,5 cm x 2 cm. Bords peints à l'or et base en placage de bois. Bon état.‎

‎Three lovely papier maché snuff boxes. French, circa 1830. Each has an engraving under varnish to the lid. One is coloured, two are uncoloured. The boxes have painted edges around the image. The images are a touch darkened, and the edges are a little scuffed, but the boxes are still very presentable. The three are as follows: 1) "Devinequi?" "Guess who." Two young men in an arcadian scene. One is behind, and covering his friends eyes. Coloured image Appears to be a watercolour under varnish. 8.5cm diameter, 1.5cm depth. Sound but with slight damage to the base. 2) "La Veillée" "The Vigil" A group of five in a cottage, waiting expectantly, although who knows what for. Woodcut under varnish. 9cm diameter. 2cm depth. Sound but with slight damage to the base. 3) "La tendresse Maternelle" "a mother's tenderness." Appears to be a mother trying to save a child from drowning. Woodcut under varnish. 8.5cm x 2cm. Gold painted edges and wood veneer base. Good condition. .‎

‎Beautifully bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. The attendees captured here include H.R.H. Princess Margaret, The Duke & Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent. Landscape album 246 by 307mm (9Ÿ by 12 inches). 4 blank leaves, 2 titles (printed in red and black). 28 black and white silver gelatin prints (193x245 mm) mounted on 14 leaves. A further 4 leaves of blanks to the rear. Full morocco binding titled in gold on the first cover in a double frame of gilt fillets, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets, gilt fillets on the cuts, interior border highlighted with gilt fillets, binding signed Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London. A little bumping to the corners. Slight handling to the binding only. An inscription has been scratched away on a front end paper. Still a lovely copy. The first 14 photos document the visit of Princess Margaret who was then 24 years old, the next 6 photos concern the Princess and the Duke of Gloucester, the last 8 photos the Duchess of Kent (Princess Marina) and her eldest son (Now Prince Edward, Duke of Kent). Single album, or produced in a very few copies. Although this is a private collection, the indications are that it was produced by press photographers from the Daily Mail. To the title page, the address is Northcliffe House, London. EC4 - which was the headquarters of the Daily Mail at the time. A couple of the photographs can be identified as being used in the press at the time. Also identified in the pictures are Philip Rosenthal, of Rosenthal Porzellan, Germany. Lord Rothermere, Mr Stokes (The organiser of the exhibition). .‎
