Le commencement est à la confiture et la fin aux pommes...Auteur de plusieurs œuvres musicales, Auguste Mermet a notamment écrit la musique et les paroles de l'opéra Roland à Roncevaux qui fut représenté à l'Opéra de Paris en 1864, à la demande de NAPOLEON III.‎
