‎Illustré d’une carte et de onze gravures sur bois, ainsi que de 25 capitales historiées. Bel exemplaire de cet ouvrage rédigé par Johannes Magnus, archevêque d’Upsal, ici en seconde édition (la première parut l’année de la mort de l’auteur à Rome en 1544). Ce texte s’avère beaucoup plus historique que l’ouvrage que fit paraître la frère de Johannes, Olaus Magnus, l’Historia de gentibus septentrionalibus (Rome, 1555). D’ailleurs il est également autrement plus rare. Il est à noter que Torquato Tasso (Le Tasse, auteur de la Jérusalem libérée) s’est servi du Gothorum Suonerumque historia pour écrire sa seule tragédie intitulée Il re Torrismondo, qu’il fit imprimer au cours de l’été 1587. A few minor marginal brownspots at end. printed on good paper. Internally clean and fine.‎
