Large in-folio album, 50 x 35 cm, title + XXI plates, boundi n publisher's red cloth with large gilt lettering on front cover. Binding a bit dustsoiled, interior fine but he protective serpent leaves are partially damaged and/or missing. Impressive album with 21 large collotype plates illustrating a pageant . Most of the plates contain 2 or 3 collotypes of decorated waggons illustrating historical scenes. The theme of the pageant , organized on the 50th anniversary of the Academical Historical Society pageant was organised around the theme of the late medieval national Dutch drama festival ''lLandjuweel''.
Anvers, Jos. Maes, impr. Mees & Co., 1877, format 24 x 17 cm, 8 pp.text + 150 plates (Portraits in photo-engraving - héliogravure). Loose as issued. Kept in a modern purposely made cloth box with leather title label on spine. Title and text pages a bit soiled and spotted. Plates in very fine condition Rare collection of portraits of Antwerp artists reproduced in photo-engraving. In 1877 this was a very innovative use of photography. Many of the 16th and 17th c. portraits are based on Van Dyck's iconography. The collection contains also 18th and 19th c. artist portraits. These last images are difficult to find elswhere.
