With printer's mark on last leaf ( page &4 ). Text in double columns, the Dutch/Flemish in black letter, the French in Roman and the Latin in Italic type. The penultimite laef with a small marginal paper restoration. With a 19th c. note of a Brussels' collector ( F.C.B. ?) on the first paste down. Bound in contemporary overlapping ivory coloured vellum, manuscript title on smooth spine. A very fine copy. Dictionary of the Dutch language with the Latin and French translations. It contains over 40.000 entries. The genesis of this all important work for the Dutch language has been extensively documented by authors such as Max Rooses ( first curator of the Plantin-Moretus Museum), and F. With a late 18th c. note on the first fly leaf stating that a similar copy was sold in auction at 18 guilders at the sale of the Jesuit libraries in Brussels. With on the same page the manuscript ex-libris of J.F.Verhoeven (?). Bound in 18th c. full mottled calf, raised gilt spine, sprinkled edges, binding with some minor traces of use, with a clear old waterstain in the lower margin of the last 30 lvs, stain larger on the last 5 lvs. Still a fine copy.
