Born in 1986, Borgerhout, Belgium. Ever since childhood he was very passionate about woodworking. At the age of 15 he made his first instrument, the next year he started studying at the violin making school of Antwerp. Directly after his studies in 2006 he worked in a local workshop in Brussels till 2011. Anton then decided to take the leap and started his own business opening his workshop in his hometown Melsele where he grew up and is strongly connected to the cultural life. From 2013 till 2015 Anton Somers and his former employer tried to work together again, but now as chef d'atelier, in the workshop premises of Anton in Melsele. where he worked meanwhile on his own account. One can see finally an output of high quality instruments under his own name, with his own models and with his own varnish, which lead to a boost in his career. In September 2016 Anton also took on the challenge to work as a teacher in the violin making school of Antwerp ILSA. Sharing his knowledge for 5 years, he stopped teaching at the end of 2021 to be able to fully focus on his career. In December 2016 Anton received a Coup du Coeur in the violin making competition ?Violoncellenseine? in Paris which was dedicated to the cello. The cello was specially awarded for his tonality qualities by renowned cellist Damian Martinez Marco. In 2020 Anton was selected by Andy Lim personally to serve as one of the five supervisors for the 3-year string sextet project, where 24 last year student/ recently graduated violinmakers will make 2 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos. Anton has the honour and the challenge to supervice the making of 2 cellos. In 2021 Anton made a string quartet containing completely CITES certified whalebone purflings. This quartet is shown in the book published by Darling Publications "Anton Somers Vioolbouwer te Antwerpen ~ 22 instruments of the violin family 2012-2021 which was launched in Brussels, June 2021. ‎Les volumes du Thesaurus Patrum Graecorum (CCTPG) consacres a l'exploration du lexique des chroniqueurs et des historiens byzantins ont fourni jusqu'ici des concordances lemmatisees de textes rediges entre le vie et le ixe s. - de Zosime, Procope de Cesaree et Theophane le Confesseur a Nicephore le Patriarche - et portant jusqu'au regne de l'empereur iconoclaste Leon V l'Armenien (813-820). Ce nouveau volume, le vingt-deuxieme de la collection, continue directement ces travaux en abordant l'analyse lexicale des quatre livres attribues par la tradition a Joseph Genesios et sans doute rediges sous l'egide de Constantin VII Porphyrogenete (913-959). L'auteur dresse un tableau des regnes de Leon V, de Michel II d'Amorium (820-829), de Theophile (829-842), de Michel III (842-867) et de Basile Ier le Macedonien (867-886), a l'egard duquel il se montre tres favorable. Comme le titre l'indique, trois sources anonymes sont egalement abordees dans ce volume : la Chronique de l'annee 811 presente un recit circonstancie de l'expedition desastreuse entreprise contre la Bulgarie par l'empereur Nicephore Ier Logothete (802-811) ; la narration conservee sous le nom d'un Scriptor incertus, que d'aucuns considerent comme issue d'une source reliee a celle de la Chronique de l'annee 811, transmet des faits relatifs aux empereurs Michel Ier Rhangabe (811-813) et Leon V ; enfin, la Chronique de Bruxelles presente une liste commentee des empereurs romains et byzantins depuis Jules Cesar jusqu'a Romain III Argyre (1028-1034), il s'agit d'un court memento, etonnant a la premiere lecture mais dont l'interet historique, sur certains points, a ete demontre. L'ambition des responsables scientifiques du CCTPG est de prendre en compte l'ensemble des sources grecques disponibles et d'en integrer les donnees lexicales dans un dictionnaire electronique, le Dictionnaire Automatique Grec, outil de base utilise lors de la lemmatisation. La taille de ces trois textes anonymes etait assurement trop modeste pour en faire des Thesauri independants. Les joindre a l'analyse du recit de Joseph Genesios evitait de les ecarter definitivement du champ de la recherche. La thematique commune de ces differents temoins et leur chronologie font de cet ensemble textuel un corpus homogene dont l'analyse lexicale contribuera a fournir une image toujours plus large et plus precise du lexique des Byzantins. Veronique Somers enseigne le grec et le latin patristiques a l'Institut catholique de Paris. Elle a publie en 1997 sa dissertation doctorale sur la tradition manuscrite grecque des Discours de Gregoire de Nazianze avant de participer activement aux projets europeens Rinascimento Virtuale et New Aeschylus Edition.
