6. Paris, Chez l'Auteur, rue Saint-André-des-Arts, 1783, small in-4°, 22 x 16,5 cm, xvi pp + 355 pp. Bound in contemporary half roan, boards covered with marbled paper, titel label on smooth spine. Binding with minimal wear, interior very good. Very fine copy. The author explains in his preface - which contains also some grammar and pronounciation clues - his method to learn Italian. The book contains the complete text of the '' Lettres Péruviennes'' in French with the interlinear translation in Italian (printed in Italic). The author claims that if you read attentively, word by word, the text you will master the Italian language. This ''language course'' is also testimony to the success of Mad. de Grafigny's novel ''Lettres Péruviennes'' which had only appeared 2 years earlier ( 1781).
