This long, comprehensive work on pharmacology was widely used by Lieutaud’s contemporaries. In it he recommended the use of simple, or "Galenic" medicines, of which the effects are well known, and denounced the polypharmacy of the Arabs and the pyrotechnical remedies that had been fashionable in the preceding century. In the 1st volume the author teaches about internal medicines, the 2nd volume covers external medicines, general as well as food and drink. This pharmacological work is the translation into French of part 2 of Lieutaud's «Synopsis universae praxeos medicae», revised and updated by the author.
