‎foto's van Brussel, Antwerpen, Namur, Leonard Misonne was een Belgisch picturalistisch fotograaf. Belgian pictorialist photographer. (1870-1943). Born in provincial southern Belgium into a prosperous family, Misonne studied mining engineering, but never practiced it, preferring to devote himself entirely to photography from 1896 onwards. A prominent presence in the first wave of pictorialism, Misonne travelled widely and learned the bromoil process from Emile Constant Puyo in Paris in 1910. As a figurehead of the pictorialist movement in Belgium, he acquired a lasting reputation for landscapes, bucolic and timeless, a genre he would exploit throughout his life. Misonne's work tended to express a conservative aesthetic, although the later townscapes outgrew the underlying anecdotal sentimentality present in some of his earlier views. The images are characterized by a masterly treatment of light and atmospheric conditions, as summed up in Misonne's credo 'Le sujet n'est rien, la lumiere est tout' ('The subject is nothing, light is everything'). While the subject matter remained more or less constant over half a century of activity, Misonne's chosen medium evolved towards more manipulated processes?from carbon printing, including the Fresson process, until 1910-15, by way of bromoil until 1930-5, up to a final phase using mediobrome.‎

Léonard, avec ce monument, veut réaliser une uvre qui ferait oublier toutes les statues équestres précédentes, en particulier celles de Verrocchio et de Donatello, dédiées respectivement à Bartolomeo Colleoni et à Gattamelata. ‎Brevet de lieutenant de la Garde Nationale Parisienne portant les signatures de Bailly, premier maire de Paris, de La Fayette, commandent fondateur de la garde et de Joseph-Léonard POIREY, son ancien compagnon darmes de la Guerre dAmérique, alors secrétaire général des Gardes nationales, document raturé postérieurement. Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert Motier, marquis de La Fayette (1757-1834), auréolé par son héroïsme à défendre les libertés pendant la guerre dindépendance américaine, est en 1789 le fondateur de la Garde nationale à Paris le 15 juillet 1789. Il en demeure le général jusquà sa démission le 8 octobre 1791 suite aux troubles révolutionnaires survenus les mois précédents. Joseph-Léonard Poirey (1748- , qui fut son secrétaire militaire pendant la Révolution américaine, participe à aux batailles à Petersburg, Jamestown et Yorktown. Rentré en France avec Lafayette, il sert comme capitaine secrétaire général de la Garde nationale française fin 1789 et ensuite secrétaire général des troupes parisiennes. ‎Toerisme is reizen voor je plezier; met de auto, de fiets, te voet, de trein, het vliegtuig ergens naar toe, de wereld ver weg of dichterbij ontdekken. Toerisme is echter ook een complexe economische sector die voor welvaart en groei zorgt. De Belgische overheid zag aan he begin van de twintigste eeuw het belang van het toerisme voor het land in en wilde de sector daarom kunnen sturen en reguleren. Vijfenzeventig jaar geleden, in 1939, richtte ze het Commissariaat-Generaal voor Toerisme op, een overheidsdienst met als belangrijkste taken het promoten van Belgie als toeristische bestemming in het buitenland, het in goede banen leiden van de toeristische sector binnen Belgie en het toegankelijk maken van toerisme voor iedereen. De organisatie wisselde in de loop van haar geschiedenis meermaals van naam tot ze in 1995 werd omgedoopt tot Toerisme Vlaanderen en de invulling van haar takenpakket is ? net als het toerisme zelf ? geevolueerd, maar vast staat dat ze het toerisme en de toeristische sector in Vlaanderen en Belgie de voorbije decennia op vele vlakken sterk beinvloed heeft. 75 jaar Toerisme (in) Vlaanderen brengt voor de eerste keer de geschiedenis van deze instelling ? van zijn vroege voorgangers in het begin van de twintigste eeuw, tot vandaag ? voor het voetlicht.
