«L’Executive Order 9066» fut signé par le Président Roosevelt le 19 février 1942.En vertu de cet article, tous les japonais et américains d’ascendance japonaise résidant sur la côte ouest furent déportés vers des camps dans l’intérieur du pays.Les images que Dorothea Lange nous montre -affiches apposées sur les murs, fermeture de boutiques, enfants étiquetés, départ en train, miradors, baraquements- ne sont pas sans rappeler quelques épisodes sombres de l’histoire européenne.Yasuhiro Ishimoto (né en 1921, auteur du «Someday, Somewhere», «Chicago, Chicago») a été interné dans un de ces camps de 1941-1945.
