‎Lalaisse fut lélève puis le collaborateur de Charlet à lÉcole polytechnique. Originaire de Nancy, il subit linfluence de Géricault par lintermédiaire de son maître. Il partage avec ces deux derniers une passion commune pour les chevaux clairement visible dans cette vue d'une foire de chevaux en Normandie. ‎
