Bound in modern red half leather with marbled boards, gilt title on spine. Text leaves a bit spotted and dust soiled, colour plates very fine. The chromolithographic plates were lithographed by Daumont and printed by Monrocq. They illustrate various ways to use brick as a decorative element in building constructions, also chimneys, pillars, enclosure walls, gates etc.. Many examples of complete buidings are depicted, some with groundfloors and cross-sections. Some architects represented ; Ed. Guillaume, Gabriel Davioud, Duvillers, Delarue, Galand, A. Feine, Eug. Le Maire..The text by G. Détain gives , apart from the technical descriptions, also an historical survey of the brick as building element and a survey of the different types of brick.
