"6. Haarlem, Johannes Enschedé en Zonen, 1829, in-folio, 45 x 27 cm. Complete year 1829 ( issue n° 1 - jan. 3 ) -> (issue n° 155 - dec. 29). Bound in contemporary boards, Boards covered in spickled marbled paper. Nice copy with minimal wear and stains. This complete yearly volume of 155 issues lacks the first leave of issue 22 ( febr. 19) and both the issues 80 and 81 ( july). It contains 3 extra leaves as supplement: [1] to issue 65 ( the program of the Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen...) . [2] to issue 83 ( the program of the Nederlandsche Huishoud Maatschappij). [3] Issue 148 = special issue on a new law to enforce the king's power e.g. on censorship. Issue 95 is erroneously numbered as 59. The issue n°125 appears twice. Issue 144 lacks a small corner with minimal loss of text (only the issue's number). Very fine nearly complete year of this newspaper. The ''Opregte Haarlemsche Courant'' is the oldest and most important newspaper of the Netherlands. It started in 1656. In 1829 it published 3 issues per week ( Tuesday;Thursday and Saturday). Issues consisted of 4 pp minimum. The Saturday issue would have 1 of 2 leaves extra. So a total of nearly 700 pp are here on offer. This is a very nice collection of an important Dutch early 19th c. newpaper from the period when the Netherlands were once again united after a separation which dated back from the 16th c."
