(Philadelphia, n..d. ca. 1895) Chromolithograph (10 x 12 cm.).
A nice coloured trading card showing a Gipsy fortune-teller and a boy & girl, a cat and a owl. On the verso the advertisments for some of Jayne's products, i.a. the "Jayne's Expectorant". The latter nostrum have caused at least the death of one child (see A. Cramp I, 455). Most of Jayne's products were seriously habit-forming as they contain alcohol, opium and its derivates, notably heroin and cocain. The card was printed by Major, Knapp & Co of New York.-(Text very slightly stained, but a good copy a a rare trading card).
