Very interesting collected works, translated in english, from Nobuo Ishimori, and collected as he was nominated to the Andersen Medal. He was born in 1897 at Sapporo (Hokkaido) and grew up in the nrthern city surrounded by the great plains of Ishikari, an environment that must have exercised considerable influence over his impressionable mind. He taught successively at Seisho Middle School of Aichi Prefecture and Kagawa Prefectural Normal School. As member of Publication Bureau of Education Ministry participated in compilation of state textbooks (from 1939). Worked after the war as leader in teaching of Japanese language. Following retirement from Government service (1950) became professor of Showa Women’s University. Among his works of juvenile literature are a children's novel Sakidasu Shonengun (Children Coming to Bloom) which was awarded the Shincho Prize. Good condition.
