"0. Romae (Rome) 1841, engraved frontispiece (burning of books) + xlviii + 422 pp + ca. 250 nn pp**, bound in contemporary half leather, smooth spine with gilt title, ex-library with two 19th c. library stamps on the title page. ** Bound in at the end are all the books which were put on the index after this catalogue was published (1841). Nearly every two or three months the Papal authority added new publications to the list; e.g. Decretum die 18 Augusti 1841, 16 Septembris 1841 , 28 januarii 1842 , 5 Aprilis 1842 ..... until 18 Februarii 1868. So over a period of over 25 years, second half of the 19th c. we can follow the steps of Papal censorship."
