First and only edition of the French translation by Albin Villeval of this richly illustrated work on New South Wales, edited by Frank Hutchingson. The original English edition had appeared in Sydney the same year. The work contains information on a wide variety of subjects, amongst others the geography of New South Wales, its law system, commerce, industry, education and social conditions, as well as descriptions of its main cities, transport systems and arts. In the appendix (pp. 323-37) a historical time table concerning New South Wales can be found. That this official publication was ment to stimulate immigration is confirmed by a vignette with the text "Offert gratis par le gouvernement de la Nouvelle Galles du Sud" pasted to the back of the front cover.
