Johann Heinrich Hottinger (1620 - 1667), a theologian from Zurich, Hottinger began his studies at a young age and traveled through France, England, and Holland where he gained extensive knowledge in languages and theology. After his travels he became a professor in Zurich and published several significant works on the bible.‎

‎Edition originale. Brunet III, 347 ne cite qu'une édition de 1661 à Francfort. Reliure en demi basane milieu XIXe, dos à nerfs, petits fers à froid ett roulettes sur les nerfs. Ensemble frotté. Johann Heinrich Hottinger fut un orientaliste suisse très estimé, et ses nombreux ouvrages dans le domaine ont fortement fait progressé les études orientales, il était professeur de langues orientales à Zurich et Heidelberg. Ce premier ouvrage est suivi d'un dictionnaire arabe italien plein de très nombreuses expressions et idiomes. ‎Edition originale de cet érudit commentaire sur le Thalmud par l'orientaliste et théologien protestant suisse J.-H. Hottinger (1681 - 1750). Hottinger explique pourquoi il est dit dans les Misna qu'on ne doit pas traiter de l'inceste en présence de trois personnes ni de la Création en présence de deux, ni du Char dont il est parlé au premier chapitre d'Ezéchiel en présence d'une seule. L'auteur s'appuie sur de nombreux textes rabbiniques.‎
