Bound in uniform mottled calf, smooth spine with two labels and gilt decoration. Triple gilt fillets on both coversMarbled endpaperes & marbled edges. Some slight wear at the corners , with tiny loss of leather, still a very fine set. Provenance: with a printed ex-libris pasted in on the first paste down of ''Duc de Berwick'' Item nr. 110 is added in manuscript..(He was the grandson of marschal James-Fitz James who was himself an illigitimate son of king James II.). Nice copy of the first edition , second impression of one of the most important philosophical works of the Enlightenment ; the bible of Materialism. See PMM 215."
